The ACP Autoworks Story
ACP AutoWorks ltd, was founded in 1983 from Mr. Andreas Panayiotou. Andreas, graduated from Chelsea college of Automobile and Aeronautical Engineering the year before.
From the early stages, the company was dealing with more sophisticated work, such as fuel injection repairs, automatic transmission repairs, power steering repairs and also more general maintenance like routine servicing, wheel alignment etc.
Engine performance tuning which was a part of the company from the beginning, grew up and became competition car preparation. For a few years, it was the main work load for the company. From early MK1 Escort to a full group B Opel Manta 400 and later on, group A cars such as VW Golf MK1, MK2 were built in our workshop. At that time, we would undertake full body preparation as well all of the electrical, mechanical and safety work to transform a road car into a fully competitive rally car.
We were highly successful in the competition car preparation and cars build or prepared by us won outright speed events and rally events. In the years to come, we decided to concentrate more on road vehicles as staying with rally cars would demand a larger outfit and definitely work outside Cyprus. It was around this time that we became SAAB Authorized service in the Limassol area.
Few years later, the SAAB company became property of General Motors and a new authorized service was appointed. We continued our work on road vehicles with an emphasis on Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen brands. In 1994 and 1995, we ran a Volkswagen Golf MK2 group A for all the rallies of the Cyprus championship, winning in 1996 the 2WD championship for Limassol area.
About 2005, we expanded our premises and added a MOT station. In 2007, we had an offer from Cyprus Suzuki dealership to become their authorized service in Limassol area which offer was gladly accepted. We have grown our facilities and our staff from the starting point of three people, to today’s staff of ten people. We also increased our engineering capabilities from sophisticated online computer-aided diagnosis to a large array of fabrication equipment and also, machining facilities.
Today, we probably have one of the most equipped workshops in Limassol which combined with the many years of experience, engineering expertise and academic qualifications of our staff can provide top level service at very competitive prices.
